Peachcroft Farm - Free Range Geese

Many families enjoyed goose for their Christmas Day meal – some for the first time. Goose was once the traditional festive dish and it is now regaining more popularity each year.

Geese are still produced in the old-fashioned way, reared on grass. Some, like these at Croxton Kerrial, are driven through the village street in a time-honoured way to pasture each morning.

Nature dictates that mother goose starts laying eggs in the spring and goslings are only available from then until late summer. That’s why fresh geese can only be obtained from Michaelmas in late September through,to Christmas.

But have you ever tried goose eggs for cooking? Or used goose fat to roast vegetables? Or do you sleep under a duvet filled with goose feathers? We should be thankful for all that Mother Goose brings us.

   

Traditional Farm Free Range Geese

Peach Croft Farm’s traditionally reared geese enjoy the freedom to roam in grassy paddocks and fields around the farm and are grown naturally and slowly to full maturity. Reared on a completely natural diet, they are raised to the highest standards and in the best welfare conditions.

Cooking one of Peach Croft Farm’s geese couldn’t be simpler. Inside the carry-home box you will find your oven-ready goose together with full cooking instructions and tips on how to prepare, without fuss, the perfect Christmas goose.

Peach Croft Farm Geese are available in the following weight ranges: Small 4-5 kgs, Medium 5-6 kgs, and Large 6-7 kgs.

Geese are available for Michaelmas at the end of September through till Christmas.

HOW TO ORDER: Ordering your Peachcroft Free Range Goose couldn’t be easier. Our Christmas order book will be open from 10th October 2011 when you will be able to order by Telephoning your order to 01270 625302, including placing your £25 non-refundable deposit with your credit card details, during our office hours of 8.30am to 5.pm.

COLLECTION: Your turkey, goose and other Christmas specialities will be available for collection from Brookshaws of Nantwich on the 22nd, 23rd and 24th December, between 8.30am and 5pm.
